Obituary written by Mr. Tumblin's son, Tim: So, where do I begin? Wow! How about let's start at the beginning.. It all started in the summer of June 17, 1942. World War II was raging across the planet, and in a small corner of Blount County, Alabama, near Hayden, Hubert and Emma Tumblin received their fourth child, a son who they named Alfred Lee Tumblin. That was our Daddy, and that's what I'm gonna call him throughout this obituary. Daddy was a wonderful husband, father, and counselor, and a very loyal friend, even to those who misbehaved and scorned him. When many family members and friends would say, "Red, you're too soft," he still held no ill-will toward anyone. He'd always say, "God will judge whom He will," or "God is in control. Tim, David, you just do your job." Daddy was a professional drywall carpenter, having built buildings from the Atlantic to the Pacific. He was also a youth baseball coach, and played church league softball as a pitcher with a mean sinker! Most folks know he's a great gospel singer and teacher, but few know that in the early 2000's Dad got his first Certificate of Old Testament Studies from Southeastern Bible College, back when they had a satellite course at Temple Hill Baptist Church. Dad was a talker and he loved sharing ideas, songs, history, and family stories.
