Alice Mae Dockins, age 78, of Pleasant Grove, AL passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2024.

Alice grew up in McDonald's Chapel, a part of Birmingham, Alabama. She attended and graduated from Minor High School in 1964. She was in the National Honor Society. Upon graduation, she worked for a drugstore in West End, close to Princeton Hospital. After a few years of working there, she got a job at Vulcan Materials as a secretary. She moved up very quickly within the company, as a result of her hard work and dedication. Through her many years of employment at Vulcan, she made many friends and her bosses considered her a huge asset to the company. She worked in Human Resources until her retirement in 2009. She attended Garywood Assembly of God, and loved her church family. Upon her retirement from Vulcan, she then volunteered her time to work in the church office for as long as she could. Alice loved her family tremendously. She was an avid Auburn fan and also loved Nascar (especially Bill Elliott back in the day). She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde Austin and Ella Kathleen Dockins; sister, Linda Grace Redmond; and brother-in-law, Donald Edward Redmond. She is survived by her niece, Donna Renee Jordan (Kyle); nephew, Ronald Edward Redmond (Lisa); and her great-niece and great-nephews: McKenize Allison Brown, Daniel Edward Redmond, Drake Ethan Brown, and Courtland McGee Jordan.

A visitation for Alice will be held at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home on Saturday, October 26, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Immediately following the funeral service, everyone will reconvene at Mt. Zion Cemetery for the committal and interment.
