Alvis Hancock, age 80 was born on June 19, 1945 in Cullman County, Al. Alvis passed away peacefully on August 14, 2025 at his home.

He enjoyed reading History Books on World War II, the Civil War and doing Ancestry research. His Favorite days were spent enjoying time with his wife of 51 years.

Alvis was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Pearl Hancock.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Hancock; son, Joe Hancock; brother-in-law, Paul (Wanda) Rivers; nieces, Kim (Dale) Allred and Annette (Stephen) Payne; nephews, Steve (Kathy) Simmons and Brent (Heaven) Rivers.

There will be a visitation for Alvis on Sunday, August 17, at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM with service to start at 3:00 PM. Bro Paul Rivers will officiate.

Burial to follow at Sulphur Springs Cemetery where there will be a brief committal service at the graveside.
