Ann
Wilson
Sep 23, 1938 — Jan 25, 2022
Hayden
Our beloved Rebecca "Ann" Wilson went home to be with Jesus on January 25, 2022, at the age of 83. Ann was born to Julius Earl and Dovie Palestine Johnson on September 23, 1938, in Hayden, Alabama. As a child, she excelled in school and was a cheerleader on the Hayden High School cheerleading team. She graduated from Hayden High School in 1956. Ann met her husband, Theron Wilson, on an arranged date by Ann's friend. They married three years later, on February 23, 1959. Theron loved Ann very much. They had a son who they named Keith Wilson, on March 22, 1963. When Keith grew up, he married Laura Wilson, whom Ann absolutely adored. Ann had a long career with South Central Bell/ Bellsouth, from 1956 until retiring in 1986. She and her husband, Theron, were very active in North Highland Baptist Church for many years. Ann loved to entertain friends and family. She loved to visit with her loved ones on her screened-in porch. She loved embroidery, sewing and knitting, and was always busy with a project. She loved spending time with Theron at the lake in their camper. In 1993, Ann met Bonnie, whom she "adopted" as her daughter. They became fast friends and spent a lot of time together. Ann invited her to family functions and holidays and told everyone that Bonnie was her daughter. When Bonnie married, Ann and Theron were in her wedding. As the years passed, Ann welcomed 3 beautiful granddaughters: Rachel, Nicole and Emily. Ann was the BEST Nana ever. She loved the girls unconditionally, and again, told everyone that the girls were her granddaughters. She was kind, encouraging, generous, and very affirming to the girls. Her granddaughters LOVED their Nana. Truly, EVERYONE loved Ann. She had a faith in God that was obvious. She loved people and made everyone feel welcome. We find our comfort in knowing that she is with the Lord and no longer in pain; however, her friends and family will miss her greatly. Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Dovie Palestine and Julius Earl Johnson; siblings, Jack Earl Johnson, Alice Lorraine Graves and Eldridge Johnson; and she and Theron's baby daughter. She is survived by her loving husband, Theron J. Wilson; son, Keith (Laura) Wilson; daughter by choice, Bonnie Miller Ropog; and granddaughters by choice, Rachel, Nicole and Emily Ropog. A visitation for Mrs. Wilson will be held at North Highland Baptist Church in Warrior, on Monday, January 31, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with funeral service beginning at 12:00 p.m. Interment will be at Graves Gap Cemetery. Following the committal service, a reception for family and friends will be held at North Highland Baptist Church in the fellowship hall.
