Obituary

Annie Mae Wilkinson Thomas passed away on June 8, 2023, at 94 years of age. She is preceded in death by her parents, Luther Lee Wilkinson and Nettie Louella James Wilkinson; her husband Jefferson D. Thomas Jr.; her daughter, Farris Joan Thomas Bennett; and her son, David Byron Thomas. She is survived by her daughter, Judy Dianne Thomas; her granddaughter, Amy Bennett Prisoc (John); her grandson, Michael William Thomas McEwan; her great-grandson, John Tyler Prisoc; and her son-in-law, Melvin Barry Bennett.
Annie was a busy lady her entire life. She was born in Corner, Alabama and graduated from Corner High School. She and her husband spent the first 20 years of their marriage serving in the Navy. Once retired from the service, they ran a large poultry farm and Annie started a small shop, "Annie's Dolls and Gifts" a shop that made and sold ceramics and where she also taught ceramics. She was an avid video game enthusiast for a while and was constantly engaged in arts and crafts. She loved her family dearly and was always a source of support and love for them. They loved her independence and strength of purpose and her willingness to always try the next thing as well as her support of all they did. A visitation for Annie will be held at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home on Monday, June 12, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., with the funeral service beginning at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery.
