Asa Ray Shaner, age 83, of Robertsdale, Alabama, passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2020. Ray grew up in Warrior, Alabama, and lived there much of his life. He was retired from US Steel, and also served in the US Army. Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Nadine Shaner; parents, Hazel and Walter Shaner; and brother, James Shaner. He is survived by his daughter, Robbin Holder (Alan); son, Tim Shaner (Monica), grandchildren, Madison Harry, Josiah Harry, and Evan Shaner; sister, Patricia Hawkins (Charles); sisters-in-law, Zelma Hill, Lucy Hill, and Mildred Hill; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. A visitation for Ray will be held at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home on Thursday, February 27, from 12:00pm-1:00pm, with funeral service beginning at 1:00pm. Burial to follow at Cane Creek Cemetery.
