Obituary

Bama Deason Armstrong, 84, passed away peacefully at home on January 17, 2023.

Bama Armstrong held many titles; wife, mother, sister, grandma, aunt and friend.  With each one of these positions, she was always loving, caring and supportive.  She had an amazing and kind heart.  She was a truly a sweet and precious person.

Bama had many talents.  She loved to write, draw, and paint.  She wrote poems and her paintings were displayed on the walls in her home.  She loved to read and would always have a good mystery by her side.  Bama also made her own greeting cards.  She loved to spend quality time with her children and grandchildren doing puzzles. She loved to listen to Elvis Presley sing, especially when he sang gospel songs.

After her children were grown, she went to Wallace State in Hanceville to become a nurse.  She graduated as Magna Cum Laude in her class.  She loved her job at UAB and was a very caring and compassionate nurse.  Bama was awarded several times with "The Award of Excellence" by the University of Alabama Hospital for "Exemplary Commitment to Quality Care."

Bama saw no faults in anyone because she believed everyone had them.  She would not judge someone because of her faith by saying The Lord said "Do not Judge, or you too will be judged."  She was a true Christian and talked to The Lord daily, read her bible, and prayed for everyone, every day.

She will truly be missed.

Bama is preceded in death by her parents, Curtis and Retha Deason; husband, Lawrence Armstrong; son, Dale Armstrong; granddaughter, Sandy Rhoad and brother, Lyman Deason.

She is survived by her daughter, Yvonne (Robby) Russell; son, Gary Armstrong; granddaughters, Abbey (Adam) Sherrell, Amber (Austen) Bibb, Ashley (Jesse) Shipp, Samantha (Zack) Box and Shelby (Davis) Patterson; grandsons, Jordan (Allie) Jones, and Kasey Armstrong, along with numerous great grandchildren.
