Obituary

Barbara Jane "Janie" Cato, age 48, of Hayden, AL, passed away on Saturday, September 4, 2021. Janie was described by many definitions. She was a person that was full of faith, life, and dreams. She was always happy, hopeful, generous, caring, and very fun-loving. She accomplished many things in her life, including giving birth to her two amazing and handsome sons. Janie graduated two years of Charis Bible College. She became a missionary, and even visited Wyoming doing God's work. She started a business from scratch for her family and friends. Janie loved to do a lot of things. However, her favorite thing to do was to spend time with her family, especially her grandkids. Janie's love and direction has been a stabilizing and encouraging force for her very close family. She held all of her family so near to her heart. She also enjoyed attending Charis Bible College , and gaining an understanding about God, while gaining a relationship with Him. Janie's friends and family loved everything about her. However, their favorite things about her were her free spirit, and her good advice. They love the way she loved with her whole heart, and how attentive she was to everyone's wants and needs. Janie had a way of making people feel so valued. No matter who you were or where you were from, to Janie you were special and worth loving. Her family said , "To know Janie was to love Janie, and to be loved by Janie was so special . It made you feel so important and needed." She will be greatly missed. Janie was preceded in death by the father of her children, Mike Marsh; father, James Cato; and grandparents, Celestine and J.L. Cato. She is survived by her mother, Dana Cato; sons, Jordan Marsh (Kiearsten) and Jonathan Marsh (Madison); brother, Jeff Cato (Krista); grandchildren, Troy, Jordyn "JoJo", Caiden, and James Marsh; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. A visitation for Janie will be held at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 15, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., with funeral service beginning at 2:00. Interment will follow at Sulphur Springs Cemetery.
