Barbara Jean Sharitt of Trafford, Ala. passed away on Friday, August 7, 2026, at the age of 68. Barbara was a nurse for many years. She spent several years traveling as a nurse and then spent the last of her career at UAB downtown as a Critical Care Nurse. Barbara enjoyed traveling to the beach and mountains. She enjoyed gospel singings and taking all of her nieces and nephews on trips when they were growing up. She enjoyed going to church and spending time with friends and family.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Nellie Riddle; grandparents, Josie Padgett, Ella Hogeland, Sylvester Hogeland and Glover C. Riddle; as well as several aunts and uncles.

She is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Graves (Paul); siblings, Louis Riddle (Yonna) and Susan Smith (Damon); grandkids, Andrew and Sam;  aunt, Elbie Trammell; nieces and nephews, Brandon Able, Nicole Able, Cassidy Riddle, J. C. Riddle (Havin), Peyton Smith and Logan Smith; great-niece, Isla Riddle; as well as a host of cousins.

A visitation will be held at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home on the evening of Monday, August 10, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held the following day, Tuesday, August 11, at Freewill Baptist Church, beginning at 3:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Hayden.
