Bertis Elmer Campbell, 96, went to his heavenly home on Saturday,
September 9, 2023, a few hours prior to his 97th birthday on September
10. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Betty Warden,
his parents, William "Dan' and Ollie Campbell, and six siblings, Ira,
Lonnie, Ezell, Vinnie, Hessie and Lucille.
He is survived by four children: Diane (Jack) Latham, Michael
(Charlotte) Campbell, Ronald (Mable Bibb) Campbell and Sandra (Troy)
Harville, seven grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and two
great, great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. He is also
survived by his beloved Quaker Parrot, Scooter and dog, Tess.
He was retired from Dixie Electrical Manufacturing Company in Tarrant
City and in younger years, he worked with his Dad at the family sawmill.
He loved to cut the grass with his zero turn mower, cut down trees and
was always active and doing something. He achieved the rank of
Sargeant in WWII and a proud Veteran, who served on Okinawa and
Ischemia, Japan, and loved to wear his WWII Veteran hat wherever he
went. He received his "thank you for your service" comments with
pride and enjoyed having his meals paid for by thankful people. He
loved to eat and celebrate at family gatherings.
He will forever be missed and always be loved.
