Betty Imagene Calvert Piper, known as "Nana" entered this world on July 7, 1930, and departed from it 94 years later, on April 14, 2025.

Nana was preceded in death by her parents, Grady and Leatha Calvert; her husband, Alfred L. Piper, Sr. ; and her siblings, Willa Dean Daniel (Johnny), Howard (Novelene), Harold (Mac), Carl (Ethel), and Herbert Calvert (Becky). She is greatly missed by her children, Jacqueline D. Bonds (Rick) and Alfred L. Piper, Jr. (Diane); grandchildren, Richard A. Bonds, David J. Bonds (Sierra), Angela R. Vande Krol (Wayne), and Meredith D. Piper; and great-grandchildren: Nalani N. and Amari A. Stewart, Christian G., Bethany M., Jonathan M., and Naomi N. Vande Krol, Braxton K. Piper, Greyson H. Turney, and Gunner K. Cox.

A visitation for Mrs. Piper will be held in the chapel of Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home on Friday, April 18, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m., with the funeral service beginning at 11:30 a.m. Dr. C.O. Grinstead, minister of Trinity Baptist Church in Oxford, AL will be officiating. Immediately following the funeral service we will travel directly to Hopewell Baptist Cemetery in Pinson, AL and reconvene graveside for a brief committal service just before interment.

Please Note: We WILL NOT be traveling to Hopewell Baptist Cemetery in a formal procession led by a police escort. Therefore, to ensure the safe arrival of all who wish to attend the committal service and interment, we ask that everyone travels to the cemetery of their own accord, rather than following the hearse.
