Billy Mathis, age 63, of Warrior, AL passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2022. Billy was hardworking, strong, fun-loving, well known, and very well loved. He was a family man - a great husband, father and PawPaw. Billy retired from Jefferson County Environmental Services after 29 years, but retirement wasn't the end of his work as he was always helping someone or working on something. He loved his family, friends, dirt racing, fishing, and being in the great outdoors. He will be greatly missed.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny Mathis and Willa Jean Vines; sister, Brenda Mathis; and brother, David Mathis. He is survived by his wife, Jessica Mathis; children, Chrystal Lowe, Christopher Mathis, Christian Harris (Olivia), and Gabriel Young; siblings, Bo Mathis (Mary), Ben Mathis, Mick Mathis, Kathy Hartman (Terry), Mandy Mathis, and Linda Love; grandsons, Brady, Cayden and Trevor Lowe; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends and extended family members.

A visitation for Billy will be held at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 17, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held the following day at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home Chapel, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Bro. Arnold Kilgore to officiate. Interment to follow at Elvester Cemetery.
