Mrs. Brenda Swain, age 72, of Altoona, Alabama, passed away at U.A.B. Hospital June 11, 2023. Brenda had a kind and genuine soul, and she went out of her way for her family and loved ones. She loved to crochet and make things for her family and friends, and she loved her patients at the nursing home. Brenda loved God and instilled those religious and moral values in her children and grandchildren.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, John Curtis King and Mary Francis Howard; her brother, Johnny King; and her daughter, Tonia Hinton. She is survived by her children, Anita Skinner, Linda Tatum, James Chandler, Sidney (Leslie) Chandler, and Richard Chandler; grandchildren: Amanda, David and Amber Hawkins, Cameron, Ashley, Amy and Jesse Skinner, Dakota Hinton, Karen Woodruff, and Brian Tatum, Jr.; great-grandchildren: Zaharah and Kayden Skinner, Elijah Ryan Nunn, Kayleigh and Annalease Skinner, and Athena Willow Young; and siblings: John King, Cherry Hoglan, Doug Witcher, Crystal Witcher and Frank Witcher.

A visitation will be held at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 14, 2023.
