Carolyn Ann Peters Frye of Hayden, Alabama, was born May 25, 1940, and passed into her eternal home on February 6, 2025, at the age of 84. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was born to Horace B. Peters and Bertha Lee Hyacinth Sanders Peters, both of whom preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death was her husband of 41 years, John (Johnny) Houston Frye and sister, Sue Peters Adams.

Early in her life, she worked at a bank, but stayed home many years with her children, then returned as lunchroom lady at Warrior School. Carolyn loved cooking desserts, working outside in her yard, coloring books and enjoyed spending time with her family and members of her Smoke Rise Baptist Church Sunday School class.

She is survived by her children, Joy Lynne Frye Sapp (Danny); John Houston Frye,  Jr. (Michelle); grandchildren Eric Sapp, Nick Sapp, Jonathon Frye, Jessica Frye,  Emma Chandler, who will be serving as honorary pallbearers ; eight great-grandchildren; brother Tim Alan Peters; and several nieces and nephews.

There will be a visitation on Sunday, February 9, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with a celebration of life immediately following at Messmer Funeral Home. Carolyn will be laid to rest at Ricetown Cemetery, with lunch to follow at Mountain Brook Baptist Church.
