Obituary

Cecil F. Hatcher, known to most as "Slim", age 79, of Sardis passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, January 26, 2023. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Janice Hatcher; sons Phillip (Rachel) and Steve (Sarah), grandchildren, Josh (Charlene), Caleb, Ashlyn, and Hannah, and great-grandchildren Zaiden, Daxten, and Freya, and a sister, Linda. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ethel Hatcher, brothers, Virgil, Gene, Mack, Billy Wayne, a sister, Opal, and a host of nieces and nephews. Mr. Hatcher proudly served in the United States Army as an MP in South Korea from 1962-1965 where he guarded The Bridge of No Return. He was a dearly loved husband, daddy, grandaddy, brother, uncle, and friend. He loved his dogs, which were his constant  companions, spending time outside on his tractor or 4-wheeler, or enjoying a good cup of coffee, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family. Nothing meant more to him or made him happier and he spent his life making sure they were taken care of. His insights about people and life, stories about the good ol days, his contagious laugh, and handsome smile will be greatly missed by so many. Services for Mr. Hatcher will be on Monday, January 30, 2023 at Mesmer Goodwin Funeral Home in Warrior, Alabama. The family will receive friends from 11:30 am - 12:30 pm with a chapel service at 12:30, followed by a committal service at Sardis Cemetery.
