Mr. Charles Hollis Burns, age 89, of Warrior, Alabama, passed away Thursday, February 22, 2024. The family will have a visitation at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home Monday, February 26, 2024 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. There will be a graveside service at Mt. Zion Cemetery following visitation (2:15 p.m.).

Mr. Burns was preceded in death by his parents, T. P. and Myrtle Burns. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lorene Burns; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

Hollis was a graduate of Warrior High School Class of 1953. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1957-1959, and then was called to active duty in 1961 during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He retired after 25 years of service with CSX Railroad as a brakeman/switchman. He had a love for Alabama football and was known to many as quite the avid fan. He was a wonderful husband to his loving wife, a kind uncle, and good friend.
