Mr. Charles L. McKinney, age 83, a life-long resident of the New Castle community, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2024.Mr. McKinney will have a chapel service at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home Monday, May 13, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 11:30 a. m.-1:00 p.m. Interment will be at Moncrief Cemetery in Gardendale, Alabama (2055 Moncrief Rd.).

Mr. McKinney was preceded in death by his parents William H. and Lucille Hull McKinney; brothers, Robert McKinney, William McKinney, Thomas McKinney, Harold McKinney, Euel McKinney, and Ray McKinney; sisters, Gertrude Wagoner, Lucille Farley, Barbara Pilkington, Fay Taylor, Jean Newton. He is survived by his brother, Dalton McKinney, and sister, Judy Croft, and a host of other beloved family. Mr. McKinney proudly served his country in the United States Army. Later, he had a long and successful career as an Alabama certified master gas fitter.

Despite his Alabama raising, he was an avid and devoted LSU fan, and loved rooting for the Tigers, especially LSU football. He loved his dog, Bo, his special friend, who preceded him in death. Charles McKinney will be missed by his family and friends.
