Clarence Charles McAnnally, known to family and friends as Charles, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2026, at the age of 82, in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. Charles was born in Hayden, Alabama, to Clarence and Lela Tuck McAnnally. He grew up and spent the majority of his life in Alabama, where he built a life centered around family, hard work and the simple joys of creating things with his own hands.

Charles earned an associate's degree and worked for many years as a television repairman, a trade that reflected his natural ability to understand how things worked, as well as his willingness to patiently fix what was broken. He also proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam era.

Those who knew Charles will remember his quick wit, his warm personality and his ability to bring a smile to the faces of those around him. He enjoyed working on cars, woodworking and painting. He took pride in his ability to make, repair and improve things, but his greatest pride was, undoubtedly, his family. 

Charles was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He and his beloved wife, Indalu, shared 56 years of marriage. He was an amazing father to his children, Michael and Judy, and an especially cherished grandfather to his grandsons, Brannon and Bailey, whom he helped raise.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Lela McAnnally; and sisters, Doris Adams, Ann Niblett Stone and Sarah Masters.

He is survived by his wife, Indalu McAnnally; children, Michael McAnnally and Judy Kelley (Harry); grandsons, Brannon Tolbert (Katie) and Bailey McAnnally (Meghan); great-grandchildren, Samuel, Lucy and Maggie; siblings, Roger McAnnally (Rita) and Wilma Upshaw; and many other extended family members and dear friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.

The visitation and funeral service will be held at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church on Saturday, October 3. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Immediately following the funeral service at the church, everyone will reconvene graveside in the adjoining cemetery for the presentation of military funeral honors and a brief committal service prior to interment.
