Claudie "Leon" Lowe, affectionately known to most as PawPaw, age 79, of Warrior, Alabama, went to his heavenly home on Friday, January 3, 2020. He is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Helen Lowe; his daughter, Lisa Annette Spurlock; his parents, Claudie Lowe, and Albert and Alta Campbell; his siblings, Geraldine Williams, Dorothy Ogles, and Linda McCurry; and lifelong friends, Bobby and Jo Parker. He is survived by his daughter, Debbie (Jerry) Taft; his sons, Darrel Lowe and Raymond (Sherry) Lowe; his sister, Tootsie (Bobby) Quinn; his grandchildren, Jeri (Caleb) Shaver, Taylor (Abby) Taft, Brooklynn and Brilee Taft, Kayla Lowe, Tyler Lowe, Levi Lowe, Raymond Lowe Jr., Sandra Sterling, Chris Younes, Timmy Younes, Katie Lowe, and Ryan Lowe; and many great-grandchildren as well as a host of family and friends. Leon was born August 28, 1940, and was raised in Nyota, Alabama. He loved being outdoors. He enjoyed farming and fishing, especially in the company of his lifelong friends, David and Dora Barnett. Leon's loved ones described him as a hardworking, kind man with a heart of gold. He would give anything to help those he cared about. He will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all who knew him. A visitation for Leon will be held at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home on Sunday, January 5, from 5:00pm - 8:00pm. Funeral service will be held on Monday, January 6, at 2:00pm, at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home. Burial to follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
