Danny Ray
Blackmon
Oct 22, 1948 — Jun 9, 2025
Warrior
Danny Ray Blackmon of Warrior, Ala. passed away on Monday, June 9, 2025, at the age of 76. He was a member of Union Missionary Baptist Church in Warrior. Danny was also a proud Veteran of the United States Army, who served honorably as a Field Artillery Sargeant in the Vietnam era. After retiring from a career in transportation, working as a driver for Walmart's private fleet, Danny enjoyed watching Alabama football and Atlanta Braves games, traveling with Jackie, and spending time with his friends and family.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mildred Jaudon. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Jacqueline "Jackie" Blackmon; children, Boone Blackmon (Candice) and Melissa Bolzle (Morgan); grandchildren, Boone, Charlesea "Lucy", Raygen, Onnie and Tucker; siblings, Reida Grzeczka (Joe) and Steve Blackmon (Sally); as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends, all of whom Danny loved dearly, and who loved him just as much.
The visitation will be held at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home on Thursday, June 12. The family will receive guests in the chapel from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., and the funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Please do not enter the chapel until the doors have been opened to the public. Immediately following the funeral service, we will travel to the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, Alabama for a brief committal service, the rendering of military funeral honors, and interment.
Honorary Pallbearers: Joe Schwab, Roger Wood, Jerry Baldwin, Tucker Bolzle
A note on travel to the Alabama National Cemetery: Because of the great distance between the funeral home and the cemetery, we ask that all attendees travel there of their own accord, departing from Messmer Goodwin ahead of the hearse, rather than attempting to follow immediately behind it. In doing so, you help to ensure the safety of all who make the trip to Montevallo and also allow for just the immediate family members to follow behind the hearse without complication or interruption. We must arrive at the cemetery before or by 12:30 p.m. sharp. Once we have arrived inside the cemetery gates, please form a line behind the hearse so that we may travel in a formal procession to the pavilion where the committal service will take place. Your consideration is greatly appreciated.
