David Wayne Mathews, 40, of Gardendale, Al, born on May 14, 1978, passed away in an auto accident on Saturday, May 11, 2019.

David attended Tabernacle Christian School.  He worked for Vulcan Industrial in Moody.

He is survived by his daughter, Megan Mathews; mother, Virginia Berryhill; father, Richard Mathews (Frances); sister, Peggy Warner (Richard); stepbrother, Gavin (Amber); nephews, Blake Price, Stephan Hand and Lawsen Rathbone; nieces, Taylor Glass and Jenna Rathbone, and his girlfriend, Tiffany Grey.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.  He will lie in state on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 from 2:30pm to 3:30pm at New Bethel Baptist Church with a funeral service to follow at 3:30. Burial immediately after at New Bethel Cemetery.  Brothers Gary Creel and Andrew Peters to officiate.
