Jesse David Ward of Hayden, Ala. passed away on Friday, April 17, 2026, at the age of 89. David was born and raised in Warrior, Alabama. He lived in several different states throughout his life before returning to Alabama to stay. David was a proud veteran of the United States Army, and he worked most of his life as a carpenter. He loved antiquing and going to yard sales, but his most favorite thing to do was spend time with his grandkids.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Buck Ellard Ward and Gladys Stewart Ward; wife, Eulala Newton Ward; siblings, James Ellard Ward and Martha Ward Markham; and grandson, Cody Ward. He is survived by his children, David Alan Ward, Shanan Ward (Tiffany) and Sonia Pair; sister, Louise Ward Czarnick; and grandchildren, Brittany, Jessalin, Audie, Audrianna, Caleb, Luke and Evan.

A visitation for David will be held at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home on Monday, April 20, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Immediately following the visitation, everyone will travel of their own accord to Stewart's Chapel Cemetery, where we will all reconvene graveside for the funeral service beginning at 2:30 p.m.
