Warrior
Denise Wilson Whitsell March 8, 1956 – August 17, 2021
Denise was born a fighter on March 8, 1956. She was born with a disability and her parents were told she would never be a functioning adult. She had several obstacles to overcome in her life. She overcame what was told would be impossible. Denise did not walk or talk until she was four years old. She was not able to attend school until the 7th grade, but she quickly caught up with her classmates. She graduated with her graduating class from Banks High School in 1975. She later went on to earn two
associates degrees from Jefferson State Community College. Denise worked as a pharmacy technicianfor over 25 years. After retiring, due to health reasons, she was welcomed with open arms into her cousin Carol's home. Carol and Larry were able to give Denise the assistance that she needed. She immediately became a
huge part of Carol's family and was given a big family to love her. She loved all of Carol and Larry'schildren, grandchildren, and great grandchildren like they were her own. She instantly gained her title as Aunt Denise. Denise was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015. It was again another obstacle that she was handedand that she beat and overcome. She loved social media, it was her outlet to the world. She lived through those that were close to her. She loved to watch YouTube videos, read, and crochet. She was an avid animal lover. She recently lost her two fur babies, Tinker and Prissy.
She had an infectious laugh, a beautiful smile and heart of gold. She will always be remembered as our Denise.
