Warrior
Dewey "Buggs" Lee Long, born July 3, 1939, passed away peacefully May 16, 2026, surrounded by the love of family. Dewey proudly served his country in the United States Army and later dedicated many years of hard work in the coal mining industry before retiring.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmie and Geraldine Long.
Dewey is survived by his loving family, including his sisters, Joan Long Jones and Joyce Long Smith; his brothers, Larry and Patrick Long; his granddaughter, Autumn Whatley; his grandson, Duane (Erika) Whatley; and his two beloved great-granddaughters, Kaley and Olivia, whom he absolutely adored. He also leaves behind a lifelong friend who was as close as a brother, Nathan "Tackhead" Turner.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Dale and Valerie Henderson for the love, care, and kindness they showed Dewey during his final years. Their support and friendship meant more than words can express.
Dewey will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his love for his family, and the joy he found in spending time with those he loved most. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
