It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donald Gregory Goodwin, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, after a long fight with illness. Though he leaves an emptiness that can never be filled, we find comfort knowing that after such a long and difficult journey, he's finally at peace. 

Greg was a hardworking man and a Jack of all trades. There weren't many things he couldn't figure out. He was both stubborn and loving to all who he crossed paths with. When he wasn't working, you could find him at one of three places: at the lake fishing, somewhere near a casino, or at home with his dogs watching old movies. The love that he had for his family will continue to live on through the memories, stories, and pieces of him that they will carry with them always. Though we wish we had more time with him, we are grateful for every moment we had. 

Rest up now, Dad. You fought a long fight, and I couldn't be prouder of you. You can finally lay your burdens down. We love you and will carry you with us for the rest of our lives, until we meet again.

Greg was preceded in death by his Paw and Maw, Carl and Ruth Goodwin; and his parents, Donald and Caldonia Goodwin. He is survived by his wife, Rita Goodwin; daughters, Chelsea Goodwin and Jamilee (Gary) Padgett; stepsons, Nathan (Kristina) Jenkins and Dewayne (Nicole) Jenkins; grandchildren, Caleigh & Ryleigh Goodwin, Brooklyn Chadwick, Johnathan, Allie & Ameila Jenkins, Alexis Johnson, Jordan, Jaci, Josh & Jamison Padgett; and siblings, Cindy (Wayne) Savage, Kerry (Melinda) Goodwin and Chris (Cinnamon) Goodwin.
