Donna Jean Wilkinson Vaughn of Warrior, Ala. passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at the age of 65.

Donna Wilkinson was born April 18, 1960, to Horace and Dorothy Wilkinson. Her life was a testament of compassion and love. Her one wish was to love and be loved. She dedicated herself to everything and everyone she loved. She was an amazing wife, mother and grandmother. She dedicated so much time to being active in our lives as a homemaker, school nurse, substitute teacher, and all the other hats she wore. She was a Christian who loved Jesus with all her heart. Her legacy is her love and compassion instilled in her daughter and grandson. Donna was also a very loving wife. She met Billy at a skating rink in 1974. Donna and Billy married in 1978. Her love never faltered. From the moment she met him, until her very last breath, Billy Vaughn was her everything. She showed all of us unconditional love. She was the most self-sacrificing person on this Earth when it came to everyone. Donna is greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Horace James Wilkinson and Dorothy Duncan Wilkinson. She is survived by her husband of almost 48 years, Billy Vaughn; her daughter, Cassie Vaughn; and her precious grandson, Ace Covey.

A closed casket visitation will be held at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home on Saturday, April 11th, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

If you plan to order flowers for Saturday, keep in mind that this visitation is being held prior to cremation, so there will not be grave to cover with traditional floral stands. Anything delivered to the funeral home Saturday will be loaded into the family's vehicles following the visitation, and transported home with them. Potted plants or small floral arrangements/bouquets will be easiest for the family to load and travel with. Your florist will be able to offer gift options suitable for this occasion.
