Dorothy Faye Crittenden Southern of Warrior, Alabama, passed peacefully on October 22, 2020. She was surrounded by family and friends in her final weeks at UAB Hospital. She was a devout Christian woman, a prayer warrior to all who knew her. Born on April 22, 1932, in Birmingham, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Carrie Crittenden; husband, John Southern; daughter, Shelia Turley; and four brothers and one sister. She is survived by her son, John Terry Southern and daughter, Karon Southern Self; grandchildren, John Matthew Southern, Kelcie Self Wamick (Colton) and Kara Self Keedy (Zachary); great-grandchildren, Matthew Bryant Southern and Brayden Keedy; son-in-law, Wayne Turley (Kim); sister, Sue May; nieces and nephews; and very special friend Johnnie "Nanny" Foshee. A visitation for Dorothy will be held at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home in Warrior, from 5:30 to 6:30, with memorial service beginning at 6:30 on Saturday, November 7, 2020.
