Obituary

Eldridge Clarence Swann of Warrior, Ala. passed away on Friday, January 9, 2026, at the age of 93. Eldridge was a proud WWII Veteran who was stationed in Italy when serving in the United States Army. When he came home from war, he built houses and worked for 40+ years at Hayes Aircraft. He was a God fearing man, a wonderful husband, a great dad, and the oldest of six siblings. Eldridge and Elois Jean celebrated 50+ years of marriage. After Elois passed, Eldridge, Ann and Tammie did some traveling. He always traveled with a toolbox and a suitcase, prepared for any situation that might come up. They always made it back home. When he could no longer travel, Eldridge liked to reflect on their travel adventures. The Grand Canyon was one of his favorite trips. It included a train ride, with a singing bandit pretending to rob the train. He also loved hunting, fishing, and growing a big garden every summer. Big enough to sell some and still have enough to put up to eat all winter. He instilled in his children honor, duty and respect for each other and others we might encounter in life. He taught them to be independent and capable in order to survive. Values and beliefs passed on from a father to his children, that will continue to be passed along for years to come.

Eldridge was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Susie Swann; his beloved wife, Elois Jean Swann; sons, Matthew Swann and Joshua Thomas; grandson, Jonathon Bishop; and sister, Christine Griffin. He is survived by his daughters, Tammie Kerr (Jeff), Ann Bailey (Kevin), Susan Boshell (Michael), and Christy Curry; grandchildren: Jessica, Chelsea and Cassie Pugh, Adam Bishop (Michelle), Summer and Michael Bailey, Lane and Emma Swann, and Samantha Thomas; 10 great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Kenneth Swann (Mary), Geraldine Campbell, Ima Hamilton (Curtis) and Wanda Beason.

A memorial service celebrating Mr. Swann's life will be held at Calvary Baptist Church on Friday, January 16, beginning at 2:00 p.m.
