Mrs. Fern Chappell, age 72, of Warrior, Alabama, passed away June 29, 2023. The family will receive friends at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home Sunday, July 2, 2023 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held Monday, July 3, 2023 in the chapel at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m., Bro. Gary Creel officiating. Interment will be at New Bethel Baptist Cemetery

Fern was preceded in death by her son, Shawn Chappell. She is survived by husband, Ritchie Chappell; children, Ricky Chappell, Laura Chappell; grandchildren, Matthew Chappell, Dustin Chappell, Aya Williams, Evan Glidewell.

There are so many things to love and appreciate about Fern Chappell. She was a loving, caring person, who enjoyed taking care of others. She spent many years as a dedicated CNA. Giving care and attention to others was part of who she was. She was the type of person who was always there for others, often putting them and their care and needs before her own care.

She loved cooking and she enjoyed eating!  Some might even say she was a "foodie."

Many will remember Fern for her sense of humor. She was funny, and could always put a smile on someone's face, but definitely was one of a kind. Most of all, Fern will be remembered for being a loving, devoted, and precious, wife, mother, and Nan.
