Obituary

Fred "Freddy" E. McBrayer, 83, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, February 19, 2023.

Freddy was a big hearted man and was willing to help anyone in need.  He was a man of God and was always willing to pray with you.  Freddy was always cheerful and full of jokes to tell.

He loved the Huddle House and ate there every day.  He also loved the old black and white westerns, especially Gunsmoke, Bonanza and the Andy Griffin Show.

Freddy retired as a mechanic from Greyhound/Continental transportation where he was tasked with making sure the buses maintained good running condition.  He was also a writer and was constantly jotting down thoughts on whatever he could find to write on.  He has written numerous poems.

Freddy is preceded in death by his wife Mary Sue McBrayer; parents, Fred E. and Nola McBrayer; sister, Norma K. McBrayer; brothers, Tommy McBrayer, Timmy Wayne McBrayer and Richard McBrayer.

He is survived by his brothers, Charles V. McBrayer and Gary Lynn McBrayer.

A visitation will be held on February 23, 2023 from 12:00pm to 1:00pm with a service to follow at 1:00pm at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home.  Interment will be held at New Horizon Memorial Gardens in Dora, AL.  Brother Calvin Armstrong to officiate.
