Obituary

Gene Edward Tumlin, age 85, of Warrior, Alabama, passed away on Thursday, June 24, 2021. He passed peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Gene will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother and uncle. Most important to him were his faith and family, and then not always in this order: friends, fishing, farming, food, and Alabama Football... Roll Tide! Gene was a member of the Hayden and Warrior communities for over 60 years, and he never met a stranger. Affectionately known as "Grumblin' Tumlin" he was always ready to lend a hand or help out a friend. He will be greatly missed. Gene was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Margaret Tumlin; parents, Herbert and Emma Jean Tumblin; and brother, Ellard Ray Tumblin; brother in law Pete Phelps. He is survived by his daughter, Pam Lawson (Michael); son, Michael Tumlin (Peggy); grandchildren, Kelly Graves (Jason), Matthew Lawson, and Kristy Moore (Joe); and great-grandchildren, Lilli Graves, Kenna Graves, Kristina Moore, Kaylee Moore, Kendall Moore, and Kristian Moore; sister Gerel Phelps and brother Alfred Tumblin. A visitation for Gene will be held at Elvester Baptist Church on Sunday, June 27, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with funeral service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Elvester Cemetery.

The Lord is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked: the Lord hath his way in the whirlewind, and in the storme, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.
