Helen Simmons, 77, passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family on Saturday, June, 8, 2019.

Helen had fought the good fight, and kept her faith during her 14 year battle with cancer.  She showed tremendous strength and courage during her battle and even overcoming it 4 times.  Helen was a brave woman that stayed dedicated to Hopewell Road Church of God.  She loved working outdoors and especially in her flower gardens.  She was also a great seamstress, and loved to sew.

Helen is preceded by her parents, Pleasant Benjamin and Georgia Bell Rivers.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Earl Simmons; daughter, Annette (Jon) Shiflett; son, Steve Simmons; brother, Paul (Wanda) Rivers ; sister, Mary Magdaline (Alvis) Hancock; grandchildren, Joshua (Loan) Simmons, Matthew (Angel) Simmons, Krista Simmons, Heather (Ryan) Seymore and Amber Bratton; great-grandchildren, Annie, Peyton, Ben, Jacob, Colt and Marcus, along with a host of friends.

A visitation will be on Sunday, June 9, 2019 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home.  A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 10, 2019 at 11:00am.  Burial will be at Sulphur Springs Cemetery and Brother Paul Rivers is to officiate.
