Herman C. Swann, age 93, of Warrior, Alabama, passed to eternal life February 12, 2022. Herman loved camping and fishing. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, friends, and church family. His favorite pastime around home was playing a game the family calls "Marbles." Anyone darkening the door of his home he thought had to play this game. He also made game boards for his children and grandchildren. He had a vegetable garden until he was in his mid to late eighties, and was no longer able to tend it. His smile and laugh could light up a room, and his scowl could cut you to the quick. Herman was a devout Christian, loving husband, father, and grandfather. He adored his children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, John C. and Emma Swann; son, Dietrich Swann; brothers and sisters, Robert, Roy, Clyde, Riley, Agnes, and Jewel. He is survived by his wife, Darlene; daughter, Donita Pickering (Rick); sons, Chuck Swann (Tracy), son-in-law, James Newman; grandchildren, Lindsey Smith (Bobby), Luke Newman (Katie), Christie Crow (Ben); great-grandchildren, Copeland Newman, Gracie Newman, Cameron Lebron, Maleah Hunt, Mason Hunt, Ava May Newman, and Roy Crow. Visitation will be held at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Monday, February 14, 2022, funeral service following at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be at Mount Olive Cemetery, Mount Olive, Alabama.
