Horace Wilkinson Lee, 94, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, August 9, 2019.
Horace was born in Perry County to Robert Edgar and Maude Lee. He served in the Marines in WWII and received two purple hearts for his service in Iwo Jima. He worked for Shook and Fletcher and was a lifetime member of the Lion's Club. Horace was a member of Blount Springs Baptist Church and was a former member Gethsemane where he taught Sunday School and served in various ministries as well as Eastmont Baptist Church in East Lake. He was a Deacon for over 50 years.
Horace is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Edgar Lee Jr and and Maude Garrison Lee; brother, Robert E. Lee II and two sisters, Caroline Angel and Isabel Traywick.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy Thomas Lee of 72 years; brother, Frank Lee; sons, Horace (Butch) W. Lee Jr. (Cathy) and Phillip T. Lee (Virginia); daughter, Patti Knain (Steve), grandchildren, Kimber Lee-Aronson (Kirk), Brandy Knain, Sarah Andrews (London), Justin Lee, Andrew Knain (Rachel), Katie Joiner (Cody), Amanda Lee and Rachel Snoddy (Charles) and nine great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 11, 2019 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home with a funeral service on Monday, august 12, 2019 at 10:00am. Burial will be at Gethsemane Cemetery with Brother Jeff Ingle to officiate.
In lieu of flowers, family would like donations to be made either to Blount Springs Baptist Church or the Jimmy Hale Mission in Birmingham, AL.
