Obituary

James Morgan Cockrell, age 77, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2019. Jim served with the Army and Air Guard for 13 years. He worked in the computer room at the Air National Guard, before going to work for the Social Security Administration for over 40 years. Jim attended the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa, majoring in accounting. During his time at Bama, he played Intramural sports with Lupton Hall. In 1968, he was part of the team that won the "All Sports" Trophy for their dorm, which he was very proud to be a part of.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Morgan Cockrell and Eunice Reynolds Cockrell. He leaves behind his wife of 43 years, Donna Ray Cockrell; children, Angela Dingler (Jerry), Jodi Cook and Jimmy Cockrell (Stephanie); grandchildren, Robin West (Robert), Levi Cook, Hayley Cook, Abigail Cockrell, Kaitlyn Cockrell, Zachary Dingler, Caleb Cockrell and Faith Dingler; great-grandchild, Daniel "Tre" Fore III; his sister, Catherine Cockrell Saenger (Ed), brother, John Talmadge Cockrell (Ginny); and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held for Jim at Messmer-Goodwin Funeral Home on Friday, September 20, 2019, from 10:00 AM- 11:00 AM, with funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Hayden Cemetery.
