James Darrell Day of Kimberly, Ala. passed away on Wednesday, April 8th, 2026, at the age of 53.

James was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He dearly loved his granddaughters beyond measure. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Alabama football was his absolute favorite. Roll Tide! James loved his Mama more than anything in the world.

James is preceded in death by his sister, Tamela Sue Fernandes; grandmothers, Margie Hallman and Essie Colene Day; grandfather, William Milton Day; and his beloved fur baby, Copper.

He is survived by his wife, Dawn Michelle Day; children, Crimson Danielle Day, Kallie Nicole Day, James Taylor Day and Jessie Day; father, Jimmy Day (Wanda); mother, Brenda Dickenson (Mark); brother, Justin Day; granddaughters, Lakelynn Sue Day, Linen Saige Day, Salem Day, Navy Day, Nyla Rose and Nova Reign; as well as his fur baby, Roscoe.

A public visitation for James will be held at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home in the chapel on Sunday, April 12th, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., with the funeral service beginning at 3:00 p.m. Bro. Rooster Kilgore will be officiating. Immediately following the funeral service, everyone will travel of their own accord to Stewart's Chapel Cemetery, where we will all reconvene graveside for a brief committal service prior to interment.
