Obituary

James Larry Green, age 71, of Warrior, Alabama, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2025. Larry was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was married to the love of his life, Andi, for 48 years. As a lifelong fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide, Larry took great pride in cheering on his team each season. He never missed a game, always faithfully wearing the same lucky Alabama shirt and enjoying his signature game day meal, a ritual which he believed brought the team good fortune. From his favorite spot in the living room, he was the ever-dedicated coach, calling plays and offering commentary with the same intensity as those on the field. But what made those Saturdays truly special was sharing them with his family, especially his sons. Watching the Tide roll together became a beloved tradition, full of laughter, yelling at the TV, and making memories that will last a lifetime. Larry had a metabolism that most of us could only dream of. He could pile his plate sky-high, go back for seconds (and thirds), and somehow never gain a pound. It just wasn't fair, but it sure was funny. And if you asked how the food tasted, he'd keep a straight face and say, "fair." That was his classic line - especially when his wife had done the cooking, just to get her a little riled up. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Andi Green; son, Matt Green; mother, Evelyn Green; sister, Marlene Brown; mother-in-law, Myrtle Weldon-Mitchell; and sister-in-law, Linda Weldon. He is survived by his son, Luke Green (Staci); daughter-in-law, Monica Green; grandchildren, James, Andrew, Crimson, Selah, Emma, Ethan and Channah Green; and brother, Norman Green (Diane); as well as a host of very close and loved brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Sunday, July 13, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held the following day, Monday, July 14, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Valley Springs Cemetery in Cullman.
