James McCarty passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at age 78. He is survived by his wife, Billie Mae McCarty; three children, Charlie Scott (Robin), Susan Bailey, and Michael McCarty (Tammy); four stepchildren, John Mitchell (Jane), Mark Mitchell (Rosanna), Danny Mitchell (Lavelle) and Kasey Wade (Michael); and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family. James was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy Laverne McCarty; James Carl "Jamie" McCarty, III; his parents, James Carl McCarty, Sr. and Viola McCarty; one brother Hiram McCarty; and one sister, Elizabeth Talley. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be missed. Visitation will be Friday, December 11, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial will be at Hopewell Cemetery in Pinson.
