Rev. James D. Nichols, age 91, passed away Saturday, February 3, 2024. The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 p.m. at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home Tuesday, February 6, with the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be at Elvester Cemetery.

He was preceded  in death by his wife, Ora Lee Nichols; children James Michael Nichols, Jeannie Fay Nichols, William Danny Nichols; parents, William Elbert and Katie May Nichols; sister, Larine Nichols. Rev. Nichols is survived by his daughters, Phillis Bearden, Betty Nichols; son, James Nichols, Jr.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mr. Nichols was a strong and loving father and husband. He loved the Lord and served as a minister of the Gospel for many years, preaching salvation through his faith and belief in the Lord Jesus. He enjoyed music and playing guitar, as well as studying and researching genealogy. His family and other loved ones will remember him for his love, strong faith, and the way he loved Jesus and shared that love with others.
