James Kenneth
Sims
Oct 26, 1966 — Apr 7, 2025
Morris
James Kenneth Sims, Jr., age 58, of Morris, Ala. passed away on April 7, 2025.
James graduated from Tarrant High School in 1985, where he was very active in sports. Not only did he love sports, but he was also an avid fisherman, comedian by trade, and a bass guitar player. He was a beloved husband, devoted father, kind and caring friend to many, and last but certainly not least, a lover of Jesus! James was a licensed minister lovingly referred to as "Deacon of Donuts." He loved his family, and that included his bulldog, Daisy. His favorite quote that he lived by was, "Love hard, forgive easy, and never let someone go without telling them you love them."
James was preceded in death by his parents, Kenny and Dot Sims; grandparents, Oliver and Imogene Hope, and James and Myrtle Sims; and mother-in-law, Glenda Webster Baker. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Lisa Sims; daughters, Taylor Sims Cude (Bryan) and Maggie Sims (Harrison Witcher); sister, Kim Sims Cooper (Darron); uncle, Carl Hope (Densie); niece, Mychale Cooper; and nephew, Roman Cooper.
A visitation for James will be held at Springdale Baptist Church - 101 Springdale Rd. Tarrant, on Saturday, April 12, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., and the memorial service will begin at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages everyone to make a donation to a charity of their choice. If you do order a floral arrangement to be sent to the church, please keep in mind that these services are for a cremation, and there will not be a grave to cover with floral stands. Potted plants or bouquets in vases are best suited for the memorial service, so that the family can easily transport them home to enjoy afterward.
