Mr. James L. Thomas, age 83, of Hayden, passed to eternal rest, Sunday, March 5, 2023. Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Sephus and Cora Thomas; son, Jackie Ray Thomas; brothers, Eugene Thomas, Earl Thomas, and Carl Thomas; sister, Patsy Jerrolds. He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Ann Thomas; sons, James Lynn Thomas, Jimmie Ray Thomas, Michael DeWayne Thomas, and Danny Lee Hallman; granddaughters, Jennifer Lynn Thomas and Mallory King Schoen; grandson, James Taylor Schoen; great-grandson, Philip Thomas Schoen; great-granddaughter, Kiplynn Taylor Thomas.  A visitation will be held by family at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home Wednesday, March 8 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the chapel Thursday, March 9 beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment for Mr. Thomas will be at Cedrum Grove Freewill Baptist Cemetery in Carbon Hill, Alabama (500 Cedrum Road, Carbon Hill, Alabama, 35549).
