Obituary

Jane Guthrie, age 78, of Trafford, Alabama passed away on Friday, September 13, 2024. Jane was one of eight children, and she loved her siblings like no other. They all knew that Jane would never turn them away. Jane and her siblings came from a hardworking family, and she made sure to pass along that work ethic to her children, Paula and Damon. Jane loved her children with all of her heart, but her pride and joy was her grandchildren, without a doubt! She loved with a passion unlike any other, and her unconditional love for her family was accompanied by a fierce temper toward anyone who hurt her children or grandchildren. Jane was a very beautiful woman, and she knew it. She was also very opionated, and wasn't at all shy or stingy when it came to abruptly sharing her opinion with others, oftentimes offering up her opinion even when no one had asked to hear it! For 15 years Jane worked at Motion Industries, before suffering a debilitating injury due to a car wreck. Before she became disabled, Jane loved shopping and adding to her evergrowing collection of clothes, especially if the clothes were houndstooth patterned or crimson colored and represented her team, the Alabama Crimson Tide. She also loved music, dancing, reading, sewing, fishing, and making floral arrangements. She loved flowers and the outdoors.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Cenia and Clant Guthrie; daughters, Windy and Pamela Smith; and siblings, JW Guthrie, CJ Guthrie, John Guthrie, Bernice Guthrie, Judy Musgrove, and Mildred Cook. She is survived by her children, Paula Hill (Doug) and Damon Smith (Susan); grandchildren, Ashley Posey (Rafe), Logan Smith, Peyton Smith, Nicole Able, and Brandon Able; great-grandchildren, Ashton and Olivia Posey; sister, Joan Law (Wayne); as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
