Jean Johnson, age 83, of Hayden, Alabama, passed peacefully surrounded by her family Friday,October 28, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Johnson; daughter, Deborah Jean Johnson; son, James Anthony Johnson; parents, William and Ruth Gilliland. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Johnson (Jason) Crabtree, Helen Johnson Moody; granddaughters, Angela Young, Stephanie Thompson, Alyssa Franklin, Elizabeth Chapin, Lisa Duke; 13 grandchildren; sisters, Patricia Tumblin (Joe) Ledbetter, Doris (Sherman) Henderson; brother, John Gilliland; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Jean loved cat-fishng and coin-collecting. She said she didn't love pets, but she loved her "grandpuppies," Bella and Thor, and gave them treats every Tuesday when they visited. She had a quiet but fiesty nature. Jean was a giving person, always taking care of everyone else. Services will be held in the chapel at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home  Monday, October 31, 2022. Visitation will be from 12:30-2:00, with the funeral service beginning at 2:00. Interment will be held at Stewart's Chapel Cemetery.
