Jeremy D. Noblitt, 45, better known as j or j.gravy, unexpectedly passed away on October 17, 2019. j was a beloved son, brother, nephew, uncle, and friend.  He was a first generation college graduate and enjoyed supporting the UAB Blazers. After college, he joined the construction industry and through grit and persistence worked his way to the position of safety director. He worked tirelessly to keep others safe while on job sites and in everyday life. His motto "safety first" will continue to live on in his family! He loved the outdoors—fishing, kayaking, soccer, golf, and hunting, especially at our family's cabin known affectionately as "The Old House".  He loved sports especially Yankees baseball, Boise State football, and any form of futbol (soccer). He was philosophical at times and enjoyed contemplating and discussing life's greatest mysteries. He truly believed that if every relationship, interaction and decision was made thoughtfully and intentionally, our world could become a better place. He loved reading and writing, especially poetry. Two of his favorite authors were Ernest Hemingway and E.E. Cummings. He got a kick out of making others laugh and enjoyed telling jokes—many were "dad jokes" and others were downright inappropriate, though hilarious!  He was an amazing human always offering a helping hand to anyone who needed it but never wanting any recognition. He wished to live a simple life enjoying nature and close family and friends. Although he will be thoroughly missed by those who dearly loved him, we will forever be grateful for the time we were blessed with him. We are comforted with the knowledge that he was greeted by family and friends as he walked through the gates of Heaven. "Blessed are the peacemakers for they will be called sons of God" (Matthew 5:9).

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Ed Mann & Ellen Daniel and Melvin & Mattie Noblitt; and many aunts and uncles. He is survived by parents, Kenneth and Ann Noblitt; sisters, Karen (Bryan) Nickell, Susan (Matthew) Banks, and Laura (Steven) Price; aunts Virginia Daniel and Gerry Wallace; uncle Tommy (Lynda) Daniel; nieces, Allie, Josie, Annalee, Briley, and Mattie; close friends, Cheryl, Haley & Hannah Rogers; many amazing cousins and wonderful friends.

Visitation for family and friends will be on Tuesday, October 22 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home (225 Dana Rd, Warrior, AL 35180). The funeral Mass will be Wednesday, October 23rd at 11:00 am at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church (1460 Pearson Ave SW, Birmingham, AL 35211) with burial to follow at Valhalla Cemetery.  All are welcome.

Memorial contributions may be made to Amnesty International or a charity of your choice. Jeremy dedicated his life to helping others, and we believe he would want his death to be used to benefit others as well.
