Jewell Jett Mills, age 76, of Mount Olive, Alabama, passed away on Sunday, December 5, 2021. Jewell was preceded in death by her parents, Freddie Monroe and Irene Jett; brother, James T. "Jimmy" Jett. She is survived by her loving husband, Hardy Mills; daughters, Shay (Andy Chapple) Smith Sweatman and Dana Smith Oliver; grandson, Cody (Kayla) Sweatman; granddaughters, Dallas (Ethan) Jones and Lydia (Emerson) Oliver; great-grandchildren, Emery Kay Sweatman, Jett Allen Sweatman, Ellis Mark Jones, and one precious great-grandchild on the way; her brother, Monroe Jean Jett; and sister-in-law, Nadine Jett. Jewell was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a rock—the support and strength—for so many. She spent many years as a bartender, making many friends along the way, and developing a clientele she loved like family. Jewell loved dancing and music, bird-watching, and gardening. She loved to laugh and talk and never met a stranger. Jewell and her husband enjoyed fishing together and being next to the water. She loved her animals and a dachshund was never too far from her lap.  She always made the best of every situation. Her granddaughter described her as her "magical grandmother." Visitation for Mrs. Mills will be held at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home on Thursday, December 9, 2021, from 6:00-8:00 p.m.  Funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel the following day, Friday, December 10, 2021, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Warrior Cemetery.
