Jimmy Dale Harpman of Corner, AL passed away on Friday, June 26, 2026, at the age of 89. Jimmy proudly served his country in the United States Army and dedicated many years of hard work as a machinist in the steel industry in Birmingham, AL before retiring.

Jimmy was born on February 21, 1937 in Whittier, CA and spent his youth in Northern California. He served in the United States Army at Fort McClellan in Anniston, AL where he met his future bride when he helped her up from the skating rink floor. Jimmy was a wonderful husband, dad and grandpa who loved his country, his family and the outdoors. He enjoyed U.S. history, piddling in his workshop, music and a good western.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lynda Shaw Harpman; his children, Michael (Mary) Harpman, Allen (Teresa) Harpman and Ruth (Mike) Varden; along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Vada Harpman; his siblings Jerry Harpman, Deanna Harpman Maker and Tommy Harpman.

The family plans to hold a private memorial service at a later date and appreciates your thoughts and prayers.
