Joe Bruce Nail was born in Oneonta, Ala 5-7-1958 to Joe and June Nail. Joe went to school in Warrior Ala. Graduated from Mortimer Jordan High School in 1976. He participated in the High School Band and was very involved in the Kimberly Church of God Youth Choir. He worked for Bryson and Rowen Furniture and then Benton Brothers Drapiers. He married Anita R. Ralph in 1983 and the two had two sons Jonathan Luke Nail and Gary Lee Nail. Joe moved to Sevierville Tn in 1994 to do ministry at Smoky Mountain Children's Home where he served as Houseparent, Maintenance worker, Warehouse manager and Transporter. Joe was a licensed minister in the Church of God. Joe was a hunter, fisherman and lover of all things outdoors. His passions were his Heavenly Father, his family and travel. Joe had a wanderlust and a need to see what was over the next hill. He never traveled the same road twice and traveling the backroads was his adventure. Joe was a conversationalist and could hold a conversation on any subject. He was passionate about his family and loved ministering to hurting teenagers. Joe ministered and house parented around 120 girls whom he loved like his own daughters through his time of ministry at Smoky Mountain Children's Home. Joe traveled to 48 of the 50 states and many places abroad doing ministry. Joe was raised in a rich heritage of believers and never missed an opportunity to speak on his faith or help someone in need. Joe had a great circle of friends and never missed an opportunity to sit and talk and light up a cigar.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Bruce Nail Senior and Elizabeth Ann Marsh Nail, grandfather Luke Nail, grandmother Aileen Ruth Henry Nail, grandfather Robert Earl Marsh, grandmother Eva Grace Huffstutler Nail.
Joe is survived by his loving wife, Anita Ann Ralph Nail; children, Jonathan Luke Nail (Jonathan's partner, Shauna Henry,and her children, Rowan MaryAnn Williamson, Lailoni Pearl Williamson); Gary Lee Nail; adopted children, Christine Lynn Williams, Sarah McLuckie, Amanda Gerken, Tatyana Smith; brother, Jeffery Marsh Nail; sister-in-law, Patti Michelle Reeves; sister, Jennifer June Nail; brother-in-law, Aaron Wayne Christopher; nieces and nephews, Luke Nail, Megan Nail, Nicholas Aaron Christopher, JoBeth Christopher.
A visitation for Joey will be held at Kimberly Church of God on Thursday, February 10, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will also be held at Kimberly Church of God on the following day, Friday, February 11, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
