John Allen Bowers, 80, passed away at home on Monday, April 1, 2019.

John was a 1964 graduate from Florence State College.  He was a research biologist where he worked at Southern Research Institute in Birmingham and the National Center for Toxicological Research in Pine Bluff, AR.

John is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Greta Bowers; 1 sister, Audrey Fikes and 1 brother, Bill Bowers.

He is survived by his wife, Sue Bowers; daughter, Kim Bowers Kewish; son, Kelly Bowers; 3 grandchildren, Ryan (Sarah) Bowers, Dylan (Myriah) Bowers and Ian Kewish; 6 great-grandchildren, Destiny Bowers, Brayden Bowers, Alayna Bowers, Wyatt Bowers, Beau Bowers and Aleigha Bowers; 2 sisters, Joyce Giddens and Nancy Lokstet and 1 brother, Ronald Bowers.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 11am at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home in the chapel.
