Mr. John Turner, age 77 of Warrior, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2023. The family will receive friends at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home Chapel Tuesday, January 31 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the chapel Wednesday, February 1 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Hays Cemetery in Hayden, Alabama.

John loved farming and being outdoors as long as his health permitted. Growing vegetables gardens or beautiful flowers, it didn't matter to him. He enjoyed it all, as long as it was gardening. He enjoyed riding and working the ground with his trusty tractor. He was a simple man, preferring the beauty of nature and the love of family to the worldly charms and pleasures. His kindness, love, and support he gave to his friends and family will be sorely missed.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Catherine Hays Turner; brother, Richard Turner, and grandson, Justin Rylant. He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Jane Turner; son, Patrick (Amanda) Turner; son, Jarrod (Kellye) Turner; daughter, Jodi Williams; grandchildren: Kristin, Anna, and Kali Williams, Beth and Miranda Turner, Ali (Witten Irwin, Ansley Holder, Ethan and Ben Rylant; greatgrandchildren, Ava Bay and Judson Cooper (aka Sue) Irwin; siblings, Kathryn Suddeth, Patsy Collier, Jim Turner; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
