Jonathan Paul
Speegle
Apr 22, 1977 — Feb 24, 2022
Birmingham
Jonathan Paul Speegle, age 44, of Birmingham, Alabama, passed away on Thursday, February 24, 2022. Jon Paul was greatly dynamic; to say he will be greatly missed is an understatement. He has always had a kind heart, gentle spirit, and loved to experience new things while trying to get as many of his friends involved as he could. JP loved to compete in anything from playing baseball, soccer, and basketball to cornhole and golf croquet. He loved the outdoors and was an excellent guide to have with you on a campout or any trip down the river. JP had a way of finding the most interesting jobs: he worked as a white river guide on the Ocoee River, a ski lift operator at Vail, a lifeguard manager at VCC, a disc jockey at Weagle Radio Station, and a band manager in KY. Jon Paul had great love for all animals, especially his faithful dog, Chloe. JP always greeted you with a warm smile, handshake, or hug. He had a kind heart with a laid-back demeanor to always make you feel comfortable. JP had a great sense of humor and a long-standing rivalry of practical jokes with his oldest brother. JP was a thrill seeker who liked pushing his brothers out of their comfort zones with skydiving, repelling and kayaking. Jon Paul graduated from Auburn University with a BS in Business Administration, Marketing and Logistics, and also received a Master's Degree in Accountancy from the University of Alabama. While in school, JP participated in activities and societies including Beta Alpha Psi and Deloitte Academic Scholarship. Jon Paul was preceded in death by his grandparents, John Harold Speegle, Elvyn Speegle, Carnel Weeks and Robert Ramey. He is survived by his parents, Bess and Alan Speegle; brothers, Chad and Cris (Lisa) Speegle; niece and nephew, Hayden and Porter Speegle; as well as other beloved family members and friends. A visitation for Jonathan will be held at Church of the Highlands Grants Mill Chapel on Wednesday, March 2, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., with funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Hayden Cemetery (77 Hays Cemetery Rd., Hayden, Al, 35079). In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Hulsey Little River Trust - contact them at hulseyrivertrust@gmail.com
